1. You are a tattoo artist from Portugal. Can you please tell us more about who you are and how you got a tattoo artist?
xAndreiax: About me, damn…I like drawing since forever, and at one point in my life I though I could actually do something more productive with it besides scribbling in school notebooks. I became a tattoo artist after a friend showed some of my drawings to some other friends that owned a tattoo studio. They later invited me to work with them, and then the hole process started, very slowly.

2. How was it to grow up in Portugal? When did you decide to get a tattoo artist and why?
xAndreiax: I grew up in a freakin’ middle-class, European, suburban town. Played outside, didn’t own many toys or a computer, walked to school, ate some crappy foods once in a while, had many friends, played a lot of sports…

3. What kind of tattoos you like to do most and why?
xAndreiax: I love fixing old tattoos, it’s a very rewarding job, and I know, no one likes cleaning up the other people’s mess, but I do, haha! I like getting a horrible piece and totally transforming it, and making the person happy again with her/his tat. I also like to do some other things, I like American and Japanese old school tats, nature themes.

4. You are veganstraightedge. What would you do if anybody would come to your studio and wants a “I love beer and meat” tattoo? What would you tell this person? ;)
xAndreiax: I would say, “you came to the wrong place, sport!”. Seriously, I don’t know, I refused to do some tattoos already but I think it all comes down to the client’s attitude. I work now at home, and I just tattoo friends and friends of friends, so its more likely that something like that doesn’t happen, than if I worked a studio.

5. For how long do you live the veganstraightedge lifestyle now and why did you chose that path? What does it mean to you to be veganedge?

xAndreiax: Let me think… I became a vegetarian 13 years ago, I’ve been a vegan for 10 years. I was for a long time drug free and SXE for 5 years more or less. I met a veganedge kid at school who became one of my best friends ever, when I realized what he was, I started to bomb him with questions about why he was refusing to eat with us in the cafeteria, then he made me read some fanzines, after some days, my mind was already on the green side of life! Going to HC shows helped a lot in the hole process, meeting people likeminded and getting inspiration from bands messages and from other kids, was awesome, I really miss those times!

Becoming a vegan SXE gave me a ground from where I support my ideals today, and took me to another consciousness and awareness level I didn’t have before, improved my health, and also opened a lot of doors while travelling!!!

6. You travel a lot, so which places do you like most? Any favourite places for doing tattoos and living?
xAndreiax: Definitely Barcelona, the Veganedge kids there are tight & amazing, so much going on in the underground punk-core and art scenes! I lived there for 2 years and I met great people and had really good clean fun times. Props to those kids!
This year, hopefully, I will know more about the “vegan-tattoo-sxe-underground-art” scenes in the USA and Australiasia, can’t wait, I’m pretty excited about that!

7. Is there a chance to get any tattoo from you in Germany or Switzerland?
xAndreiax: Sure, I hope I can visit some German cities again soon, and finally get to know some of Switzerland. Always ready to pack my bag and go! I normally get a group of people to tattoo in one city, then just bring my stuff over there, and work!

8. What do you like besides doing tattoos and the veganstraightedge lifestyle? Any other passions?
xAndreiax: I’m very much interested in travelling and learning about world cultures, I love cooking and lately I’ve been much into natural therapies like Food therapy, Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Also into learning languages, music, drawing, writing, reading, Yoga, Muaythai… Million things, I know…

9. Which tattoo artist influenced you most?
xAndreiax: Satu from Finland (my master!), then Maneko from Brazil and Pedro from Portugal.

10. What kind of music do you love to listen to and why?
xAndreiax: I listen most to Hip-hop, Hardcore, because I just love music with a message, but I listen to a bit of everything (not into electronic music like trance and techno), also some mainstream bands.
