iXS Downhill Cup with new sponsors

The season is upon us and all contracts are signed. Therefore the organisers are proud to announce this year’s supporters of the iXS Downhill Cup, as they deserve publicity for their support of Downhill mountain biking.

First on the podium is iXS Sports Division as title sponsor of the racing series, a supporter of the downhill series since ten years already. It all started with the 2003 iXS Swiss Downhill Cup and in 2006 the iXS German Downhill Cup joined the family.

Already in its tenth year, the iXS Downhill series has grown up and presents itself in a new look. Not only the logo has been redone, it also comes with a new online presence.

With the four series under the flag of iXS running for some years already, the layout of the cup had to be dusted off. This has been done with the design of a new logo and the redevelopment of the website. But it’s not only the look that has changed, there are also changes within the series as well.

Heisse Duelle und waghalsige Sprünge auf zwei Rädern: Die Bike Days locken jährlich über 20’000 Besucher nach Solothurn. In diesem Jahr finden die Bike Days vom 4. – 6. Mai statt.

Der BMC Racing Cup und die Dirt-Jump- und BMX-Flatland-Wettkämpfe bieten den Zuschauern spektakuläre Wettkämpfe. In der Bike Days-Messe können sich die Besucher über den aktuellen Trends auf dem Fahrradmarkt informieren und die neusten Bikes auf verschiedenen Teststrecken ausprobieren.

Der internationale Mountainbikezirkus eröffnet die neue Saison traditionell im Bikepark Winterberg.

Vom 17.-20. Mai 2012 findet Europas größtest Mountainbike Freeride Festival – das iXS Dirt Masters powered by Chain Reaction Cycles statt. Mehr als 35.000 Zuschauer, 180 Labels und 1.800 Teilnehmer aus 20 Nationen werden erwartet.

100.000 people watching the most attended FMX contest ever in Brasilia, Brazil, and an amazing final on an island in Sydney Harbour!
Looking at the sport, the whole season was a battle between the American Nate Adams and Dany Torres from Spain. And in the end it was Torres who became the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour champion 2011!

Dane Searls passed away yesterday

Dane Searls has passed away in hospital yesterday morning after diving head first from a balcony at a Gold Coast pub on Sunday night.
R.I.P. Dane Searls
Searls’s life support was turned off yesterday morning after spending five days in a coma in a Gold Coast hospital. BMX lost one of it’s greatest riders ever! R.I.P. Dane.

Schon seit einigen Jahren arbeitet die Organisation der iXS Downhill Cup sehr eng mit der UCI zusammen. Diese Kooperation wurde noch einmal verstärkt und somit wurde der iXS European Downhill Cup als offizielle Europaserie der UCI anerkannt.

In der letzten Zeit war viel über manche Entscheidungen der UCI in den verschiedensten Medien zu lesen und viel wurde über die Zukunft des Sports diskutiert.
Ergebnisse Telekom Local Support Park Challenge

Was den zahlreichen Zuschauern bei der Telekom Local Support Park Challenge geboten wurde, war BMX zwischen Genie und Wahnsinn. Die Ulmer Reithalle platzte aus allen Nähten und bot den Fahrern die perfekte Spielwiese für Tricks, die man so schnell nicht vergessen wird.

Die 68 Teilnehmer aus Deutschland, England, Österreich, Ungarn und der Schweiz gingen mit spektakulären Tricks an ihre eigenen Grenzen – und manchmal auch darüber hinweg. So gab es den einen oder anderen Schreckmoment, bei dem leider auch die Sanitäter eingreifen mussten. Doch keiner der Fahrer ließ sich unterkriegen und war nach einem kurzen Krankenhausaufenthalt wieder in der Halle, um sich die Finals anzusehen.
